Are you into the GOOP lifestyle? No, I'm not talking about some unpleasant, oozy, thick liquid. And no... especially not that (you perverts). You can see that this GOOP is in all capital letters, which means an acronym, but no, that is not the case— not exactly.
At least, according to Gwyneth Paltrow.
"It is a nickname, like my name is G.P., so that is really where it came from. And I wanted it to be a word that means nothing and could mean anything."
Okay, but you're probably still wondering what GOOP is. Well, it's her lifestyle website that has healthy dinner recipes, fun travel destinations, Gwyneth's favorite merchandise, self-help advice and more.
But some fans have been slamming Paltrow with hateful remarks, claiming that all of the above travel and fun stops are just too unobtainable for the average person. She used to take this criticism personally, but not anymore.
Any time you do anything with any degree of sincerity, people make fun of you. That's totally fine. I don't care. I don't read any of it," she says. "My thing with GOOP has always been, if you don't like it, then don't log onto it. There were a couple of times when I thought, 'I'm just gonna stop doing it. People are so mean to me. I don't want to do it.' But then I was like, 'Who cares what some lame person out there says?'"
Besides, Paltrow notes, there are plenty of people who appreciate her advice.
"I was in Italy once, and this old man came up to me and said, 'I had the best time in Nashville because of GOOP,'" she says. "And that is so worth it to me." [via The Marquee Blog - CNN]
