The meat gets its dark color and subtle flavor from panelas, cones of deep brown sugar. If you can't find any panelas, plain brown sugar will work. Aside from that, you will also need: 4 cloves of minced garlic, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, salt, pepper, 2 pounds top round beef, 3 tablespoons canola oil, 3 onions, 2 green peppers and 6 more cloves of garlic.
